How to use OnVid in Claude

Add OnVid as a custom connector and ask Claude to create videos, talking avatars and multi-shot ads — with your own OnVid account and credits. Takes about two minutes.

Server URLhttps://mcp.onvid.ai/mcp
Before you start

What you need

A Claude account on any plan and an OnVid account. Rendering videos needs an OnVid Pro or Max plan; everything else, including free preview stills, works on any account.

1 Step 1

Open Customize → Connectors

On claude.ai or in Claude Desktop, open Customize and choose Connectors. Then click Add custom connector.

On Team or Enterprise? Only an Owner can add custom connectors — see the team setup below.
2 Step 2

Paste the OnVid server URL

  • Name: OnVid
  • Remote MCP server URL: https://mcp.onvid.ai/mcp
  • If the dialog asks about sign-in, choose Sign in now. For the OAuth client keep Use Claude's published identity (or Register automatically). Leave client ID and secret empty.

Click Add.

3 Step 3

Connect and approve access on OnVid

Click Connect next to OnVid. An OnVid page opens: sign in (Google or email) and click Allow access. You're sent straight back to Claude and OnVid shows as connected.

No OnVid account yet? You can create one on the same page — it takes a few seconds.
4 Step 4

Turn OnVid on in a chat

In a new chat, click + → Connectors and make sure OnVidis switched on. You can turn it off for chats where you don't need it.

5 Step 5

Ask for a video

Describe what you want. Mentioning OnVid the first time helps Claude pick the right tool. Claude asks permission before creating — click Allow once or Always allow.

  • The reply shows the model, settings and exact credits used.
  • Most clips are ready in 1–5 minutes; ask “is my video ready?” any time.
  • Every video is saved to your OnVid library.
Team & Enterprise

Add OnVid for your whole organization

  1. An Owner opens Organization settings → Connectors, selects Add → Custom and, if asked, Web.
  2. Paste https://mcp.onvid.ai/mcp and click Add. OnVid now appears for members with a Custom label.
  3. Each member opens Customize → Connectors, finds OnVid and clicks Connect to sign in with their own OnVid account.

Credits are per OnVid account, so each person spends their own balance.

Troubleshooting

If something doesn't work

  • “Couldn't connect”: check the URL is exactly https://mcp.onvid.ai/mcp (with /mcp at the end), then remove the connector and add it again.
  • Claude doesn't use OnVid: turn it on under + → Connectors and start your message with “Use OnVid to…”.
  • Free plan says you've reached the limit: Free accounts can have one custom connector — remove another one first.
  • “Subscription required” or “not enough credits”: videos need an OnVid Pro or Max plan with credits. Ask for a cheaper model or shorter clip, or try a free preview still.
  • Session expired: open Customize → Connectors, disconnect OnVid and connect again.
  • Manage or revoke access any time on the ChatGPT & Claude page in OnVid.

FAQ

OnVid in Claude — FAQ

Which Claude plans can use OnVid?
All of them. Free accounts can add one custom connector; Pro and Max can add as many as they like. On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds OnVid for the organization first, then each member connects their own OnVid account.
Does it work in the Claude desktop and mobile apps?
Yes. Connectors are tied to your Claude account, so once you add OnVid on claude.ai it's available in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps too.
The dialog asks how Claude should identify itself. What do I pick?
Keep the recommended "Use Claude's published identity". "Register automatically" works as well. You don't need your own client ID or secret.
Why does Claude ask for permission before creating a video?
Claude asks before a connector takes an action. Choose Allow once to approve a single video, or Always allow if you're happy for OnVid to create videos without asking — costs are still shown on every result.
Is OnVid an official Claude or ChatGPT app?
OnVid is an independent video platform. You add it yourself as a custom connector (Claude) or a developer-mode app (ChatGPT) using the server URL on this page. It connects only to your own OnVid account.
Does it cost extra to use OnVid inside Claude or ChatGPT?
No. The connector is free. Videos use your normal OnVid credits at the same price as in the OnVid app, and free preview stills cost nothing. Your Claude or ChatGPT plan is billed separately by Anthropic or OpenAI as usual.
Do I need an OnVid subscription?
To render videos, yes — an active Pro or Max plan. Without one you can still sign in, browse models, get cost estimates and create free preview stills.
How do I know what a video will cost before it's made?
Ask the assistant to estimate first ("how many credits would a 10 second 1080p clip cost?"). Every result also shows the exact credits used, and multi-shot productions always show the plan and estimate before anything renders.
Where do my videos go?
Straight to your OnVid library, exactly like videos made in the app. The chat shows a live card that updates until the video is ready.
How long does a video take?
Most clips take 1–5 minutes; long 30/60-second videos and multi-shot productions take longer. You can keep chatting while it renders.
Can I attach my own photos or videos?
Yes. In ChatGPT, attach an image to animate it or use it as a character/product reference, or a video to restyle it. In Claude and Claude Code, paste a public link to the image or video instead.
What happens if a generation fails?
The credits for it are refunded automatically. If the assistant retries the same request, OnVid reuses the original job, so you're never charged twice.
How do I disconnect?
Open ChatGPT & Claude in the OnVid app sidebar and click Disconnect next to the assistant — access stops immediately. You can also remove the connector in Claude or ChatGPT.

Use ChatGPT instead?

The ChatGPT setup takes about two minutes too.
